Second peshmerga group goes to Kobanê
The second peshmerga group arrived at Urfa airport yesterday, before travelling by road to Suruç and from there to Kobanê.
The 150-strong group was sent by the Northern Iraq Regional Kurdish Administration to replace the first group of peshmerga which has been supporting the YPG forces resisting ISIS attacks. After arriving at Urfa airport, the group travelled to the border in 7 midi-buses and 2 minibuses with an escorting vehicle. After reaching Suruç the convoy was held for a short time opposite the Çukobirlik Depot just outside the town before heading for the Mürşitpınar border gate.
The press were prevented from covering the peshmerga’s crossing the border by barricades erected in front of the Çukobirlik Depot.
When the first peshmerga group went to Kobanê it was said the group would be changed after 45 days. Now 40 days later the second group of peshmerga has gone to Kobanê.
