Seven HDP Youth Assembly members jailed in Adana

Seven out of 33 young people taken into custody during the political genocide operations in Adana were remanded in custody.

The 33 members of the HDP Youth Assembly members had been taken into custody as a result of the raids carried out by police on 17 June. The detainees were transferred to the Adana Courthouse by Adana Prosecutor Office.

After having their statements taken by the Prosecutor's Office, Gaffar Meşe, Nuri Erol, Reber Kılıç, Pınar Bozan, Cigerxwin Güven, Yasin Çiğdem, Elif Uçar and Mehmet Şerif Yeşil were sent to the Magistrates' Court on the condition of judicial control.

The Prosecutor's Office sent to the Magistrates’ Court with a request of arrest for “membership and acting on behalf of an illegal organization” Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Adana Province executives Halit Şaşmaz and Bayram Ektiren, Nuda Doğan, Burhan Erol, Mahmut Kaplan, Helbest Canel Olgaç, Abdullah Ayriç,  Saadet Çelik, Berfin Doğan, Salih Filiztek, Doğuş Kanter, Barış Aydın, Alişan Kılıç, Selman Şen, Bilal Çelebi,  Amed Tayar, Bahattin Ayraç ve Eyüp Şendur, Muhammed Enes S., Ahmet B., Osman A., Orhan G., Serhat D. and Melike Y. 

In addition,  Şaşmaz, Doğan,  Şen, Erol, Ayriç, Ayraç and Çelik were remanded in custody on charges of "being a member of an illegal organization" and "acting on behalf of an illegal organization".

The judiciary sent two minors under house arrest while the rest of the youth were released on condition of judicial control.
