Seven people were killed and eleven injured, two of them seriously, in a road accident in the district of Tutak, Ağrı province. Two small trucks and a coach were involved in the accident. The bus was on its way from Van to Ağrı. The road has since been closed to traffic and the injured have been taken to hospitals in Ağrı.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar said in a condolence message that the recent spate of road accidents was due to a lack of safety precautions. "We feel great sadness over the devastating accident in Tutak. To the citizens who lost their lives, we wish Allah's blessings. To their relatives, we extend our condolences," Buldan and Sancar said.
In the recent past, similar catastrophes occurred in Antep and Derik, but apparently no lessons were learned from them, said the HDP co-chairs, adding, "These accidents are not fate. They are the result of irresponsibility and bad administration and show that human lives do not count for the existing government."
