Seven university students arrested in Ankara

An Ankara Court has arrested seven out of twelve students who occupied the dean's office at Ankara University Faculty of Language History and Geography on 6 November, the anniversary of the establishment of the Board of Higher Education (YÖK) after the 12 September military coup in 1980.

Four among the detained students were released after their detention, while eight others were referred from Ankara police headquarters to court.

Seven were arrested and one other is being held under judicial surveillance.

Students have reportedly used their right to remain silent at police headquarters and court.
