Sick prisoner Menderes Leyla held in the Tekirdag Type F Closed Prison No.1 announced through his visitors that he has been on a hunger strike since February 25 demanding an end to the isolation.

Leyla announced through his tutelar that he is on a hunger strike in the name of the Revolutionary Left (DEV-SOL) and stated that he wrote a letter to the Yeni Yasam newspaper on the isolation.

Leyla said the letter was confiscated by the prison administration and that it included statements that the isolation is unlawful.

Menderes Leyla is suffering from tuberculosis, migraines, kidney infections and ulcers and is on the sick prisoners list kept by the Human Rights Association (IHD).
