HDP parliamentary candidates for Batman have visited the Yazidi people accommodated in Qorixê tent city in Beşiri district of Batman province. The Yazidi people, glad for the visit, asked the HDP deputies to announce the tragedy of the Sinjar people to the world public.
Ahead of the general elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan on 7 June, the HDP candidates have already started their election campaign in the Kurdish region, meeting the people and conveying their promises, while the system parties remain contended with advertising their candidates on paper.
The candidates named by the HDP for Batman province of North Kurdistan have paid a visit to the tent city sheltering the Yazidi Kurds who fled their hometown in the face of savage attacks by inhumane ISIS gangs early August.
Deputy candidates Ali Atalan, Saadet Becerikli, Ayşe Acar Başaran and Hasan Yağız were welcomed by a large mass at the entrance of the tent city.
Şemo Mirad, a Yazidi Kurd sheltered in the camp, said that they asked the HDP deputy candidates to announce the tragedy of the Sinjar people to the world public. Şemo Mirad said; "For the last 8 months, we have survived thanks to the solidarity of the Batman people. Living away from Sinjar is painful to us. Thousands of our people were massacred, while thousands of others still remain in ISIS captivity. We are following the news and developments every day, and seeing that it is only the HDP deputies that are tealling about the massacre we have suffered in the parliament. Mentioning the ISIS barbarity is not enough to tell about the massacre perpetrated against us. The Yazidi community has been through massacres for hundreds of years, to which the whole world has remained blind and deaf. We believe the HDP deputies will lay the ISIS terror bare in front of thei entire world."
Mirad added that they didn't feel alone owing to the North Kurdistan people and freedom movement.
'ISIS supporters and KDP must be called to account'
Another resident of the Qorixê tent city, Xelef Şêx, asked the HDP deputies to bring the ISIS-supporting countries and the KDP, which left them alone, to account. Xelef Şêx, remarking that he himself also served the KDP for years, told that; "KDP left us in the lurch. We have no more hope from it ans we will never trust it again even in the event of a unity among PKK, YPG, YNK and other parties. We do not believe it was fear that made them leave our honour in the hands of the enemy and escape. We think they gave Sinjar to ISIS deliberately as a result of a deal. ISIS is a barbarian organization in the eye of the whole world. Our brothers who left us alone against ISIS must also give an account for this sin they committed. HDP deputies must deal with the problems of not only the people in North Kurdistan, but also those of all the Kurdish people in four parts of Kurdistan. I believe that this year Kurdish deputies from the Yazidi community will also get into the parliament and represent fraternity."
'Sinjar tragedy should be brought up to the world opinion'
Another resident of the camp, Hekim Cindo, said they were glad to see that HDP candidates also included those from the Yazidi community. Recalling their demand for a humanitarian corridor and international dialogue in order for them to turn back to Sinjar, Cindo said; "It made us happy that Yazidi Kurds will also be represented by candidates Ali Atalan and Feleknas Uca who also bear a patriotic identity. We believe the Yazidi deputies will be working more and harder. HDP deputies must bring up the Sinjar tragedy to the world opinion and work for the equality of peoples in the Middle East to disallow another Sinjar case."
