Six people sent to prison after mining disaster in Erzincan

Six of the eight people detained in the investigation regarding the collapse of the Çöpler Gold Mine operated by Anagold Madencilik in Licik (Iliç) district of Erzincan were sent to prison.

J.R.G, A.C, H.Ü, M.B, Ş.D, S.D, M.T and A.R.K, who were detained within the scope of the investigation launched into the collapse that occurred on 13 February, were referred to the Criminal Court of Peace.

According to the statement made by the governor's office, six people, including J.R.G., the Canadian manager of the company operating the gold mine in Iliç, were sent to prison, and two more were released on condition of judicial control.

The nine workers still trapped in the mine have been named as Şaban Yılmaz, Abdurrahman Şahin, Hüseyin Kara, Mehmet Kazar, Fahrettin Keklik, Adnan Keklik, Uğur Yıldız, Kenan Öz and Ramazan Çimen. Rescue efforts are continuing.
