Six-year-old killed by Turkish police vehicle laid to rest

Efe Tektekin, who was killed by an armored vehicle of the Turkish police, has been laid to rest in Amed (Diyarbakır).

Six-year-old Efe Tektekin was was crushed by an armored vehicle belonging to the police on Emek Avenue in the central Bağlar district of Amed (Diyarbakır).

Tektekin had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine since September 11 until he died last night because of the injuries he had sustained when the huge vehicle hit him. The boy’s lifeless body was taken to Selahattin Eyyubi Hospital for an autopsy in the morning.

FATHER: HE WAS MY SON, NOT A FLY

Father Ahmet Tektekin, waiting outside the hospital, said the following; “The police vehicle killed my child blatantly. My son was just 6 years old. He was not a fly. What does that armored vehicle have to do there? How didn’t that huge police vehicle see him? My father was killed only one year ago by a water cannon vehicle that run a red light.”



EYEWITNESSES UNDER CUSTODY

A relative of Tektekin, who asked to be mentioned anonymous, stated that; “They both kill and silence the people. Police detained two eyewitnesses who saw the incident and took photos.”

Following the autopsy, the six-year old was laid to rest in the Yeniköy Cemetery with tears.



Efe Tektekin's grandfather Mehmet Tektekin (85) had lost his life after being hit by a water cannon vehicle on 6 June 2016.
