Sixteen people were taken into custody in the provinces of Adana and Urfa on Tuesday.
Eleven members of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) were detained in the town of Misis in Adana as soldiers raided a number of houses in the town early in the morning. Detainees were taken to Adana Gendarmerie Command.
Five other people were taken into custody in Urfa's Birecik district early Tuesday morning. The reason for detentions hasn't been disclosed yet. Detainees were taken to Urfa Police Headquarters.
Five university students have also been detained today in the southern province of Mersin.
