Soldiers open fire on protestors in Lice, five wounded -FLASH

At least five people were wounded as a result of the fire opened by Turkish soldiers in the village of Kayacık in Diyarbakır's Lice district on Friday.

According to the reports received, soldiers from Kayacık military post attacked villagers who took to the streets today to protest against the construction of additional buildings to the military post in the village. The wounded protestors have been taken to Lice public hospital.

Villagers responded to soldiers with stones and set fire to three tents where workers of the building are staying near the post.

Gendarme regimental command has sent armored vehicles and a number of soldiers as well as special operation teams to the area.

The number of casualties is feared to increase as people are not leaving the area where tension is quite high and clashes are continuing.
