The Peace in Kurdistan Campaign sent its solidarity greetings to all members of Sinn Féin meeting at the party’s Ard Fheis 2022, on Saturday in Dublin.

The message said: "We want to thank Sinn Féin for all its support for our campaign work and for the consistent commitment that you have shown to the struggle of the Kurds for justice and their national rights.

Your party, your members and your representatives have always spoken out on the issue and taken a firm stand in support of the Kurds and their struggle over many, many years."

The statement continued: "You have demonstrated a profound understanding of the historical roots of the Kurdish question which is based on the experience of your own national struggle.

Peace in Kurdistan is tremendously appreciative of the staunch support we have received from Sinn Féin.

Sinn Féin’s support has proved absolutely invaluable for Peace in Kurdistan to carry out our work and it has added significantly to the strength and effectiveness of our campaign."

The statement added: "We cannot express how much your solidarity means for the Kurdish cause and for the Kurdish people.

We are aware that the Kurdish people and their political representatives are equally appreciative of all the solidarity received from Sinn Fein and the Irish people over the years.

The friendship and close associations between the Kurdish and Irish peoples are founded on deeply shared experiences of centuries’ long struggles for justice and liberation."

The statement continued "The Kurdish people watch extremely closely the major advances made by Sinn Féin, especially in recent years when your movement has become a formidable and growing force within Irish politics, with rising popular support from the people throughout the island of Ireland.

Peace in Kurdistan and the Kurdish people are also fully appraised of the ongoing challenges that Sinn Féin continues to face. We are confident that Sinn Fein and the Irish freedom movement, through strength and determination, will succeed in leading the Irish people to the victories they so justly deserve."
