Solidarity to Amed, Van and Mardin mayors from Gävle municipality

Gin Akgül Hajo, deputy mayor of the Swedish city of Gävle condemned the AKP government seizure of the HDP-run municipalities of Amed, Mardin and Van.

In Sweden, the protest against the AKP-MHP fascist alliance attacks against the Kurdish municipalities and against the arrest of HDP elected representatives are increasing.

Gin Akgül Hajo, deputy mayor of the municipality of Gävle criticised the seizure of the municipalities of Amed, Mardin and Van on social media.

Hajo, in a video statement published on her Facebook account, reminded that elected people in a democratic country have the authority to represent the people, and that the authoritarian Turkish president, Erdogan, does not respect the will of the people.

Hajo, who said that the dismissed mayors are actually from the HDP which is a sister party of the Swedish Left Party, said: "We cannot remain silent against the violation of democracy and human rights. For this reason, we send our solidarity message to all our colleagues there, and especially to the 3 dismissed mayors."

Hajo ended her comments by saying: "Resist Amed, Resist Mardin, Resist Van".
