Solidarity with Kobanê continuing to grow

Support for the Kobanê resistance is continuing to grow.

Separate delegations from the Support Rojava and Call for Peace Project and from political parties and NGOs in Istanbul have travelled to Suruç to support the resistance in Kobanê.

Every day new delegations are arriving in the Suruç district of Urfa province to show solidarity with the people of Kobanê. On the occasion of the Global Day for Kobanê on 1 November more and more delegations have begun to arrive. A delegation of 40 writers from the Support Rojava and Call for Peace Project arrived in Suruç this morning. They were welcomed at the DBP district office by DTK member Feleknas Uca, Garo Paylan from the HDP, DBP district chair İsmail Kaplan and Kobanê canton Legislative Assembly co-chair Feyziye Abdî. The delegation then went to the village of Mehser at the border for a march, after which it will visit tent cities where people from Kobanê are living.

Another delegation from Istanbul consisting of members of HDP, DBP, EMEP, ESP, EMP, SGD, DAF, ÖDP, KESK, TTB, TMMOB, İHD, Peoples Assemblies, Kaldıraç, Mücadele Birliği and Niyazi Tosun, the father of Rojava MLKP member Serkan Tosun who died fighting with the YPG in Rojava, has also arrived in Suruç after being delayed by police outside the town. As soon as it arrived it set off for the border to join the march. The delegation was accompanied by HDP Urfa MP İbrahim Ayhan and Van MP Aysel Tuğluk. The delegation will also visit the tent cities and join the border vigil.
