Solidarity with Kurdistan Collective joins the Freedom March in Reims

The 25-member Freedom March was accompanied by the Solidarity with Kurdistan Collective, a group of 12 organizations in Reims. Michel Georges, a member of the collective, said that France should also play a role for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

The 25-day-long march for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, representing his 25 years of captivity, continues. The Freedom March, which took place in a different city every day, continued in Reims on its 22nd day.

The march was joined by hundreds of people from the city and the Collective in Solidarity with Kurdistan (CSK), made up of the Communist Party of France, the Young Communist Movement of France, the Left Party, Solidarity with Migrants, the Libertarian Communist Organization, the Unbowed (La France Insoumise, LFI), the CCDK-Reims, the League for Human Rights, the Alternative Student Youth of Reims, the Firefly Bookstore, Save What You Can and GMI.

The march started in front of the Reims Cathedral and continued to the town hall in Simone Veil Square.

Berivan Fırat, the spokesperson of the Democratic Kurdish Council of France (CDK-F), made statements during the march and informed the people around. Fırat drew attention to the great struggle of the Kurds in Rojava against the barbarities of ISIS and the Turkish state.

Berivan Fırat noted that 12 thousand Kurdish youths, adorned with the ideas and philosophy of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, sacrificed themselves against this barbarism that lasted for years. She addressed the surrounding people with the words "If you can live comfortably here, in Europe or anywhere else in the world, it is thanks to Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurds".

The people of Reims also showed interest in the demonstration as leaflets were distributed throughout the march.

In front of the Reims municipality, Left Party representative Michel Georges made a speech. Stating that 12 organizations have formed the Solidarity Collective with Kurdistan, Georges said, "France must also play a role in making a political solution possible. A political solution is essential for the Kurdish people. And this political solution necessarily passes through the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. We need to continue the struggle. On this basis, we call on all associations, NGOs and political parties to join this collective. The Kurdish people, like all peoples of the world, deserve their freedom. Long live the Kurdish people! Long live Abdullah Öcalan! Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan!"
