Solidarity with the people of Kobanê growing

The organisations in foreign countries seeing the accommodation problems of the people coming to Suruç because of the attacks by the ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham) gangs, have initiated a campaign in order to dress the wounds of the people of the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan. Within the scope of this campaign, the organisations have sent 250 tents to Suruç.

While the attacks by the ISIS gangs on Kobanê are continuing, the solidarity and support campaigns of the organisations from European countries and Kurdistan in order to resolve the accommodation problems of the people coming to Suruç from Kobanê are also growing.

The Alxas Kom association, which carries out its activity in England, and which was founded by people from the Elbistan district of Maraş, have initiated a campaign in order to be in solidarity with Kobanê under the name of (you too buy a blanket”. Within the scope of this campaign, the association has sent 250 tents to Suruç. The tent city in Suruç, named after Arîn Mîrkan who sacrificed herself for her comrades and for her homeland, was set up by  volunteers to accommodate people.

The co-president of the Alxas Association, Cevdet Karakoç, said that they will continue to be in solidarity with Kobanê, calling on people in Europe and people who couldn’t see the ISIS gangs cruelty in Kobanê to be aware of the conditions and to be in solidarity with Kobanê.

Cevdet Karakoç said that they had set up a school in the tent city and that volunteer pedagogues would be ready and work in a new tent city which will be set up in the coming days.
