The “Southeastern Anatolia Region” group of the Commission of Wise People will gather in the main Kurdish city Diyarbakır on Thursday. The commission which has recently been established to serve in North Kurdistan in the process of talks for a solution to the Kurdish question involves nine people from each of seven regions of Turkey.

The group's members who will come from Istanbul and Ankara will pay visits to relevant circles in Diyarbakır for two days, on 11-12 April, to have talks with NGOs, various belief groups and sects as well as people harmed by the thirty-year-old war in the country.

The Southeastern Anatolia Region of the Commission involves AKP (Justice and Development Party) Batman former deputy M.Emin Ekmen, Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research director Yılmaz Ensaroğlu, lawyer Kezban Hatemi, academic Murat Belge, academic Fazıl Hüsnü Erdem, director Yılmaz Erdoğan, writer Etyen Mahçupyan, Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions President Lami Özgen and Association of Human Rights and Solidarity for Oppressed Peoples President Ahmet Faruk Ünsal.
