Stockholm activists: Join solidarity hunger strikes

The Kurds and their friends, who continue their hunger strike in the tent they opened in Odenplan Square during the day to inform the public opinion, continue their action at the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in the evening.

The solidarity hunger strike in Stockholm has been taken over by the 4th group of activists who reiterated their call to support the action.

Activist Rojvian Cekin Qamislo from Malmö joined the hunger strike in Stockholm and underlined the importance of breaking the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Opposing isolation, the Kurdish activist said, means “to recognize the leadership. This is why thousands of Kurds have been ready to put their life at risk, because we knew the Kurdish movement thanks to our leader.”

Qamishlo called on all Kurds, who define themselves patriots, to stand up and act against isolation.

Everyone should support the hunger strikers

Hıdır Rojhat, from Goteborg, is another of the activists who went on hunger strike in Stockholm. She said it is everyone’s duty to fulfil their responsibility to break the isolation imposed on Öcalan.

Rojhat added: “If isolation does not end there won’t be peace neither in the Middle East nor in Turkey.”

Rojhat reminded of the 7,000 prisoners on hunger strike and called on all those who have a conscience to stand by the hunger strikers.

Without Öcalan no equality is possible in the world

Hana Jakili, from Rojhilat, harshly criticized the silence of the world about the isolation imposed on Ocalan, who had been held hostage in Imrali for 20 years.

Jakili called on all feminist, socialist and minority peoples to stop being silent and act.

After emphasizing that the aim of the hunger strikes launched by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven is removing isolation, Jakili said: “We are going on hunger strike to support Leyla Güven and to break the isolation imposed on Öcalan. Öcalan is not only the leader of the Kurds. He is a socialist who has fought for freedom all his life. He is an internationalist leader who fights for freedom, democracy and equality. If Öcalan is not freed equality won’t be achieved neither in the Middle East nor in the world.”
