Doctor Gülşen confirmed that Koç refused to receive treatment and remains under observation.
Doctor Fahrettin Gülşen issued a new medical report about the health of Yüksel Koç, who has been on hunger strike for 49 days in Strasbourg together with other 13 activists.
Doctor Gülşen confirmed that Koç refused to receive treatment and remains under observation.
Koç has been suffering from day 46 of his fast from digestive and circulatory systems problems as well as from cardiac problems. On Thursday though, said doctor Gülşen, he suffered severe abdominal pain, chest tightness, dizziness, tinnitus and concentration disorder.
As pains became heavier, an ambulance was called, said doctor Gülşen, adding: “Ambulance physicians, after the examination confirmed the diagnoses we made and insisted that Koç should be taken to hospital.”
Yüksel Koç stayed 7 hours in the emergency of the hospital on Friday but refused treatment and asked to return to the action site.
The hospital had run some tests on Koç and doctor Gülşen confirmed that the liver problems were due to oxidation which in turn affected all other organs.
As the other organs could not work properly as a result of poor clean blood, Koç was suffering from fatigue, dizziness, weakness and pain.
Koç is under observation and doesn’t meet visitors
Yuksel Koç returned to the Kurdish Community Centre where the hunger strike is held and remained under strict observation. Doctor Fahrettin Gülşen is keeping a close eye on him and the other hunger strikers. Koç is to remain in bed and cannot receive visitors except from family members for a short time.
Koç has been one of the more active hunger strikers so far in what concerned dealing with the hundreds of visitors and the media.
According to doctor Gülşen: “Koç’s health problems continue. He needs to stay in bed and take it very easy. No visitors are allowed to see him.”
A turn for the worse can happen any time
Another hunger striker, Kerem Solhan, was taken to hospital last week, but he also refused treatment and was discharged after some tests.
Solhan was suffering from intestinal problems although doctor Gülşen said his morale and spirit are good.
Doctor Gülşen warned that a turn for the worse can be experienced at any time now.
