A number of parties, NGOs, human rights organizations and student associations organized a meeting in Istanbul to call the government to take some steps for democratic solution of Kurdish Question in Turkey and give up imperialist policies against Syria.
One of the organizations supporting the demonstration was the Federation of Democratic Students’ Associations (DÖDEF) which was established last year by student associations in Turkey and Kurdistan. The federation has thousands of members who study in different universities and from different ethnic and religious identities. They are trying to struggle for democratic and autonomous universities and right to have education for free and in native languages. They are also known to be activists for human rights and sensitive to social issues.
The federation members collected aid for Rojava people yesterday during the demonstration. They were selling bottled water, hand-made jewelries and small accessories representing Movement of Democratic Society’s (TEV-DEM) colors. They stated that they are aware of what peoples in Rojava need, and that they wanted to help them in this way.
Members of the federation said that they would send the aid to Rojava through Human Rights’ Association (İHD).
