Bahram Rahmani, the head of IRAN PEN, a member of international PEN, has said that they support the HDP in the 7 June elections as the HDP is the only party that defends peace, freedom, fraternity of peoples, human rights and freedom of expression in Turkey.

Rahmani said the HDP is not only defending the rights of the Kurds but also embracing the demands of all the oppressed and repressed segments of society, adding that its candidates in the elections include the representatives of different oppressed groups in the country.  Rahmani stressed that HDP is a chance for the country.

Rahmani also drew attention to the fact that the AKP government and the Turkish state may very well carry out provocations in the coming days to hinder the rise of the HDP, adding that the results of the 7 June elections will affect not only the future of Turkey but of the entire region. A positive change in Turkey’s foreign policy will ocur if the HDP goes over the electoral threshold, he added.

Rahmani also stressed that one-person rule that the AKP is trying to establish in the country contradicts democracy and that the HDP is the only party that can stop this, calling on all the democratic forces in the country to support it.
