Swedish Left Party Foreign Policy Spokesperson Håkan Svennelig sent a message of solidarity with Kurdish MP Leyla Güven and other hunger strikers who demand an end to the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Svennelig recorded a video at the Stortorget Square where Kurds stage demonstrations and protests in the city of Karlstad which he represents, preferring to address to the hunger strikers and the outside world from the square.
Pointing to the grave violations of democracy and human rights in Turkey, Svennelig recalled that Leyla Güven’s action has inspired numerous people and 250 prisoners are currently on indefinite hunger strike.
