Swedish Left Party youth stage protest in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm

Young activists protested in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm against the attacks on Kurdistan and expressed solidarity with the uprisings in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan after the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini.

More than a hundred young members and sympathisers of the Swedish Left Party from Gothenburg protested against the attacks on Kurdistan in front of the Turkish Consulate General in Stockholm on Tuesday, carrying flags of the PKK, YPG and YPJ and pictures of Abdullah Öcalan. The demonstrators then marched to the Swedish parliament demanding a no-fly zone over Rojava and calling for a boycott of tourism to Turkey. On the way, statements were made pointing out the dirty practices in Kurdistan and the murder of a young Kurdish woman, Jina Mahsa Amini, by the Iranian morality police. The demonstrators condemned the systematic femicides in Iran and Turkey and expressed solidarity with the uprisings in Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) and Iran.

"We are standing here in front of the Swedish Parliament, which considers itself a champion of democracy and human rights. Iranian and Turkish politicians are received in this parliament. Those who talk about democracy and human rights sell weapons to Turkey and Iran, and these weapons are used against the Kurdish people. The people of Iran, Syria and Turkey have had enough of murderers and dictators and are demanding universal rights. These states are brutally attacking the Kurds for supposed 'security reasons'. Nobody talks about the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people. This is what we are protesting against. Because Kurdish women defeated ISIS, Erdogan wants to take revenge for ISIS," an activist said.

The action was supported by a hip-hop group demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan.
