Swiss MPs declare solidarity with HDP MPs

Reactions against the arrests of HDP Co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ and HDP MPs prisoned as part of the political genocide operations are growing.
In the solidarity campaign launched by Socialist Democratic Party (SP), Basel Canton MPs Edibe Gölgeli and Ursula Mertzger and Tonja Zürcher from the Greens, Switzerland Socialist Party, Greens and BasTa Party’s federal and canton MPs declared solidarity with the HDP MPs both in and out of prison.
Meanwhile, as part of the campaign, Switzerland Greens, Socialist Party (SP) and BastA Basel Canton MPs held a protest in Basel Canton Parliament and demanded the HDP Co-chairs and MPs be released immediately.
The protest was held before the sessions started and was met with great interest from all MPs. The protesting MPs held placards with the names of HDP MPs and issued a joint statement.
The statement said immediate action needs to be taken against the growing unlawfullness in Turkey and the damage the AKP government is causing in the country, and emphasized that all political prisoners including HDP members must be released immediately.
The MPs called on the Turkish state to respect human rights and stressed that the Switzerland Federal Government needs to take action against the human rights violations in Turkey.
In their statement, the MPs issued a call to the Turkish state to end unlawful practices against the HDP MPs.
The MPs emphasized that they will continue solidarity actions with the HDP.
