Taksim Solidarity: Resistance will continue

Taksim Solidarity Platform has released a statement after a series of discussion forums lasting from late Friday till early Saturday, 18th day of the protests at Gezi Park.

The Platform decided to "continue the resistance against all unfair and unjust treatments in all areas of life across the country".

The Platform pointed out that the police cruelty targeting protestors has not dispersed people but on the contrary strengthened and united them against violence, changing the resistance to a grassroots movement.

Criticizing the government for ignoring the demands of the people and attempting to harm the fairness of the resistance and to provoke it, the Platform said that “This is only the beginning, the struggle will continue”.

Reminding that four people were killed and dozens of others lost their sight or seriously wounded in protests, the Platform demanded the urgent release of all those detained in Gezi Park protests.

“We will keep our vigil going and continue voicing our demands for all living beings, our park, our city, our trees, our living space, our private life, our freedoms and our future. This resistance will be the reflection of the collective will of Taksim Solidarity and an entire struggle throughout the country. When compared with the beginning of the protests 18 days ago, we are much strong, organized and hopeful now”, the Platform added.
