At least ten Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) soldiers died in clashes in Beytüþþebap district of province of Þýrnak where Peoples Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas raided several military lodging buildings and police spots at around 22:00 local time on Sunday.
District governors building and the division command were also raided by guerrillas with whom the military clashed for three hours.
In a statement towards morning, Governor Vahdettin Özkan confirmed the number of the dead and said that nine other soldiers were wounded in clashes. On the other hand, some other sources report eleven soldiers dead, two police killed and nine others wounded in heavy clashes.
Local sources report that the clashes have been quite heavy and point out that the loss of the Turkish army could be heavier than what has been announced by authorities.
It is also reported that the military was forced to retreat from the operation area as it started to pour rain during the random bombardment of Turkish helicopters.
The area of Beytüþþebap, very close to the Kato Mountain, has been the scene of a number of guerrilla actions this year.
