Thirty-one people have been taken into custody in a police operation against what has been defined by investigators as a 'criminal organization' in Diyarbakır on Tuesday. The new arrests reportedly are in connection with a further 26 arrests earlier in the morning.

The operation is reported not to be related with a political organization.

Diyarbakır Governor Mustafa Toprak said that the operation targeted a criminal organization involving fraud, violence, drug smuggling.
