'Those who migrated from Adiyaman must go to polls'

The Provincial co-chairs of the Green Left Party and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) urged those who left Adiyaman province following the recent earthquakes to go to the polls.

The Party of Greens and the Left Future, abbreviated as Green Left Party, is continuing its electoral campaign in the earthquake zone. In Adiyaman, where tens of thousands of people were killed by the recent earthquakes, the Green Left Party is touring the entire city including its villages to promote the party’s candidates. The party aims to win at least 2 deputies in the May 14 elections in the city.

Green Left Party Adiyaman Provincial co-chair Aziz Koçak and DBP Adiyaman Provincial co-chair Mehmet Dağ spoke about their election campaign.

Our people will embrace the struggle

Koçak said that the recent earthquakes devastated the city. He added that their electorate were mostly politically minded people who had already decided whom to vote in this election. “I believe that our people will embrace the struggle. Although our people had to migrate to the west following the earthquakes, I hope that they will reveal their will in the elections. We, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and the DBP, the ally parties of the Green Left Party, are conducting an election campaign to respond to the earthquakes. Being aware of the suffering of our people on the field, we want them to vote for themselves. We ask them to take care of each other. We treat all faiths and identities equally; we do not discriminate at all.”

Those who migrated must vote

DBP Adiyaman Provincial co-chair Mehmet Dağ said: “We see that our people are welcoming our election campaign. Because during the earthquake, no other political party was there to help the survivors. That's why we are enthusiastic about the elections. Young people and women especially show great interest in our party. We will try to bring our outside voters to the city. Votes of those who migrated due to the earthquake are very important. Our people should be vigilant about this issue. We kindly request them to vote in the key elections on 14 May. Because the elections concern the future of the peoples economically and socially.”
