Thousands attend funeral of YPG fighter in Qamishlo
YPG fighter Ekrem Hisam lost his life on 18 October in a road accident in Qamishlo (Qamishli). He was laid to rest after a funeral ceremony attended by thousands of people.
YPG fighter Ekrem Hisam died in an accident on the road between Tirbespiyê and Qamishlo. The body of Hisam was brought to a mosque in the Entere neighbourhood in Qamishlo cityy in West Kurdistan yesterday afternoon.
Thousands of people attended the funeral and marched shouting the slogan “martyrs are immortal.” The body was brought to the cemetery of martyr Delil Saruxun and a funeral ceremony took place. The ceremony started with a speech by Faruq Receb on behalf of the institution of martyrs’ families. Then, Beşîra Ehmet spoke on behalf of TEV-DEM, underlining the resistance of Kobanê, saying: “we will resist to the last drop of our blood like Ekrem Hisam did.”
After that, Hisam’s daughter, Şînda Ekrem, said: “I promise my father, I will follow in his footsteps and the YPG’s footsteps until the last drop of my blood."
