More than ten thousand people in Yüksekova protested against the war by staging sit-in actions and marches. The crowd called for an end to Turkish air strikes and Iranian military operations in the Federal Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as well as an end to the continuing isolation of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader, Abdullah Öcalan.
The two kilometer march started in front of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Yüksekova District building. In attendance were members of the Peace Mothers Initiative, members of the BDP and many citizens.
BDP Yüksekova District Chair, Osman Dara gave a speech explaining that the recent military operations are part of projects carried out by the US and its allies to make Kurdish people weak and powerless. "The arrests of elected politicians in Turkey and the killing of the seven civilians in the Federal Kurdistan Region are indicators of preparations for a big war," Dara concluded.
