Thousands marched in cities around Colombia and the world on Friday in protest of the ongoing murders of social activists and FARC former guerrillas in Colombia.
Peace and development think tank INDEPAZ says 734 activists have been murdered.
Friday’s protests were organized after a shocking video, filmed just after community leader Maria del Pilar Hurtado was murdered in the northern province of Cordoba, was shared widely on social media last month. In the video one of Hurtado’s four young children is seen screaming in grief near her body.
Many demonstrations were also organised in several European cities, such as Rome, London, Brussels.
