The final rally organized in Amed by the Greens and the Left Future Party (Green Left Party) ahead of the 14 May elections saw the participation of tens of thousands of people.
HDP co-chair Mithat Sancar said: "Amed has taken its decision. Amed is ready. Amed is ready to lead change in this country. Amed will show it in the ballot boxes. All our comrades who are held as political hostages, Selahattin Demirtaş, whose message you heard, Selçuk Mızraklı, Figen Yüksekdağ, Gültan Kisanak, Sebahat Tuncel, and hundreds and thousands of our comrades in prison, will regain their freedom with your votes will and struggle.
Başak Demirtaş addressed the people, saying that "there is no oppression that they have not done to us for years. Let's be together with the national unity. Let's meet under our Green Left Party tree."
The voice message sent by imprisoned HDP former co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş to the voters was read. In his message, Demirtaş called everyone to go and cast their vote and said: "Be sure: we will win. We will definitely win."
Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair and Amed deputy candidate Berdan Öztürk said, "I am proud of Amed. Isolation will be lifted. Mr. Öcalan is the way of peace, the way of democracy."
