Three-day action tent in Den Haag

A three-day tent protest was launched in Den Haag, the Netherlands, to protest the Shengal agreement reached between Baghdad and Hewler, the cooperation between the KDP and the Turkish state, and the death sentence of two Kurdish men.

The tent demonstration in the city of Den Haag started on Tuesday at 1 pm with a minute's silence.

Speaking on the first of the three-day tent protest, DEM-NED co-chair Hüseyin Yıldız condemned the attacks on the Kurdistan freedom movement.

Yildiz said, "The Shengal agreement between the KDP and the Iraqi central government, reached with US supervision and encouragement, is unacceptable."

Yıldız, who demanded the recognition of Shengal's autonomy and its self-defense forces, also condemned the death penalty against Abdurrahman Er and Mazlum Dag by the Hewler judiciary. The two have been accused of killing a Turkish intelligence officer in July 2019, without any evidence nor proper trial.

"The immediate release of Kurdish patriots under threat of execution would be the most moral and just decision the KRG should make," Yıldız said.

Yildiz, who criticized the KDP harshly, added: "The KDP should act with those who resist for Kurdish institutions and Kurdistan. It should not engage with any enemy of the Kurdish people.”

The first day of the action ended, accompanied by slogans, revolutionary marches and dances.

The action will continue in the same place today and Thursday.
