Three-day hunger strike launched in Zurich

A 3-day hunger strike was launched in Zurich in order to draw attention to the hunger strike resistance led by HDP Hakkari deputy and DTK co-chair Leyla Güven.

The hunger strike resistance is demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

A tent of action was put up in the Kanonengasse area, known as the 1 May area by activists from the Swiss Migrant Workers Federation has launched the 3-day hunger strike, which was launched simultaneously in various European cities by AvEG-Kon.

The 3-day hunger strike began with a minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom. 

Hülya Orak, representative of İGİF underlined how “thousands joined the hunger strike both in prisons and in many cities around the world demanding the end of isolation against Öcalan.” 

On Sunday the activists will organise a march to support the hunger striker resistance.
