Three HDP members detained in Suruç

Political genocide operations continue across the Kurdish region of Turkey.

Police carried out house raids in Suruç district of Urfa early this morning.

HDP municipal council members Fatma Taş Ekmez and Suphi Koçyiğit and HDP administrator Vahit Akgün were taken into custody in the operation.

The detainees have been taken to Urfa provincial security directorate.

On August 19 the AKP regime seized the metropolitan municipalities of Amed, Van and Mardin by removing the democratically elected co-mayors and appointing trustees in their place. In tandem with the operation against three municipalities, over 400 people were taken into custody as a result of house raids in dozens of cities. The mass arrest campaign continues since.
