Three schools set ablaze in Cizre
Three schools in Cizre district of Şırnak were set on fire by members of the Movement of Patriot and Revolutionary Youth (YDG-H) in response to the closure of three Kurdish language schools in Amed, Cizre and Yüksekova by Turkish authorities.
After the Berivan primary school was sealed on the second day of the new school term, a group of YDG-H members gathered in the evening at the Cudi neighborhood where they set the Fatih, İstiklal and İsmail Ebulis primary schools ablaze with petrol and molotov cocktails.
YDG-H members didn't allow the access of fire brigades to the schools they set ablaze, and clashed with police who attacked them using rubber bullets, high pressurised water cannon and tear gas.
Clashes between YDG-H members and police continued till late night while the three schools targeted by demonstrators were remarkably damaged in the protest.
