TJK-E members take over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg

Members of the Kurdish Women’s Movement in Europe (TJK-E) from the Netherlands took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg, France.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in front of the European Council building in Strasbourg, France, that began on June 25, 2012, is in its 239th week.

European Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-E) members Şöhret Tosun, Gülbahar Ginci, Hümeyra Yıldırım and Hanım Şahin took over this week’s vigil and they remain in front of the European Council building in Strasbourg throughout the day despite the cold weather.

TJK-E spokesperson Hümeyra Yıldırım spoke on their participation in the vigil and said “Kurds will never be tired. Everyone is resisting. Everybody is here for Leader Öcalan’s freedom.”

Yıldırım emphasized that Kurdish people continue the vigil despite the cold winter weather; something deeply respected by European officials.

The Freedom for Öcalan vigil began on June 25, 2012, and has continued without a pause since then. In every week of the vigil, Öcalan’s thoughts on the struggles of women, Kurds and humanity are promoted. Protestors have reached out to millions of people so far during the vigil that also attracts the attention of tourists visiting Strasbourg.
