Trial against DTK co-chair Leyla Güven opens in Amed

The trial against DTK co-chair Leyla Güven, accused of 18 separate charges, began in Amed.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Leyla Güven is under trial in Amed. She has to respond to 18 separate charges for the statement she made about the Turkish occupation of Afrin and her work with the DTK. The hearing was held at the 9th High Criminal Court of Diyarbakır. Lawyers Serdar Çelebi and Cemile Turhallı Balsak were present at the hearing, while Güven did not attend it.

The prosecutor demanded that Güven be punished for "establishing and managing an illegal organization", "being a member of an illegal organization", "provoking the public to join illegal meetings and demonstrations", "unarmed participation in illegal marches and not disbanding marches despite the warning".

The trial continues with the defense of the lawyers.
