The Turkish state which is yet to open a corridor for the delivery of humanitarian aid into the war-torn city of Kobanê is also creating obstacles in allowing in the aid sent to North Kurdistan for the Kobanê refugees sheltered here thanks to their kins, DBP municipalities and local people.

Regardless of the urgency of aid for the people of Kobanê, Turkey continues to hinder the support for its neighbor town where the resistance against Turkey-backed ISIS gangs accomplished victory on 26 January.

HAWAR Association in Austria sent two trucks of aid, one loaded with medicine, basic food and health materials for the refugees in Suruç and the other one completely carrying health material meant to be delivered to Kobanê. However, only one of the trucks could reach Suruç while the other one is still being held at the Turkish customs and denied permission to go ahead. The truck which managed to reach Suruç, loaded with basic food stuffs, blankets, medicine and materials for women and children, was accompanied by 3 people from the association, who handed over the aid to Rojava Aid and Solidarity Association in Suruç district of Urfa.

Dr. Bedran Barnas from the delegation who said delivering the aid to Kobanê people was much more difficult than collecting it stressed that the Turkish state creates all kinds of obstacles with an aim to deny the access of aid to Kobanê and its people. Barnas pointed out that a particular and deliberate hindrance was imposed on health materials, adding that one of the trucks carrying only health material amounting to 3 million euros is still being held at the Turkish customs.

Barnas said they were planning to build a hospital in Kobanê which has been devastated almost completely during the war, adding that he had no idea at the moment as to how they could get the necessary materials into Kobanê while all the ways remained closed. He said it was inhumane to deny the delivery of aid into Kobanê while the town faced such tough times.

Barnas went on saying that the international community must do its best to help the reconstruction of Kobanê and put pressure on Turkey for opening a humanitarian corridor. He underlined that Kobanê couldn't be rebuilt if this corridor was not opened and it would then be a real disaster to leave the people there without aid.

The delegation will cross into Kobanê and hold a meeting with the Canton administration about the hospital they are planning to open in Kobanê and the materials needed there.
