TTB: 4785 people wounded in Gezi Park protests

Turkish Doctors' Union (TTB) has released its figures on injuries caused by brutal police attack against protestors who have taken to the streets for the last one week in solidarity with the Taksim resistance which is on its 11th day today.

According to the Union, 4785 people in 13 cities were wounded and treated at public and private hospitals as well as at medical centers and medical rooms formed by people in the areas of clashes. The Union said injuries were caused by tear gas leading to superficial inflammation and breathing problems as well as tear gas canisters, rubber bullets leading to injuries in musculoskeletal system and intra-abdominal organs, also head trauma, eye injury and loss of sight.

At least three people, including one police officer, were killed and 48 people seriously wounded in protests across the country until today. Ten people lost their sight and 18 others suffered head trauma.
