Today is the first day of the democratic process and the first Newroz of democratic republic, said Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Aysel Tuğluk in her speech during the historic Newroz meeting in Amed.
Öcalan calls for freedom and equality for all identities, beliefs and cultures, underlined Tuğluk and said that; "We hope the Turkish state and government will give a reasonable answer to this call. We once again, perhaps the last time, suggest living in peace. We as Kurdish politician, DTK, support the solution proposal that Mr. Öcalan has presented - adedd the DTK co-chair - Peace is a must and a public demand now. It is our duty to present peace to our people".

Tuğluk continued saying that "Öcalan has taken necessary steps to avoid further pains and deaths but this process cannot make an advance one-sidedly and requires steps from the other side as well. Let us build democratic republic. Our rebel has been against the denial of our presence, identity and culture. As the people of Mesopotamia and Anatolia, we demand peace and a together living. We believe we will win together. This process requires a struggle stronger than ever. I call on all the people of Kurdistan to struggle for peace and democratic solution which will lead us to victory and liberation".

Speaking after, BDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş said: "We as BDP support the peace attempt by Mr. Öcalan and say we are ready to do whatever is necessary to ensure peace which has been sought long for all the peoples in this territory".
