Türk: Öcalan's demands not challenging for the state

The (Peace and Democracy Party) BDP held a meeting today about the visit DTK co-chair Ahmet Türk and BDP Batman deputy Ayla Akat paid to Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on Imralý island on 3 January. Recent developments concerning the Kurdish issue and the recent talks with Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Leader Öcalan have been the main subjects handled today during the meeting which was held closed to the press.

Speaking to the press after the BDP meeting at the Parliament, Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Ahmet Türk said that “Öcalan's demands aren't challenging for the state. These are demands that could be fulfilled in any democratic country”. Türk added that they were hopeful about the ongoing process of talks.

Speaking after, BDP Group Chair Ýdris Baluken said that co-chair Selahattin Demirtaþ will make a statement on Imralý visit at the group meeting on Tuesday. Baluken remarked that “BDP wants Imralý talks to continue and to pave the way for a process of negotiations".
