Turkey calls on Parliament not to approve Bildu text

The Turkish Embassy in Spain has asked the President of the Parliament of Gasteiz to make every effort to prevent the adoption of a motion law by EH Bildu on Kurdistan. The PNV has tabled an amendment which is not far from the original text.
The Basque daily Gara's journalist, Iñaki Iriondo, writes that "The presentation by EH Bildu of a motion to the Parliament of Gasteiz to condemn the deaths of three Kurdish militants in Paris and show solidarity with the Kurdish people, calling for dialogue to achieve a just and democratic peace, has generated an unusual reaction of the Turkish Ambassador in the Spanish state. The ambassador has sent a letter to the president of the regional chamber asking for the proposition to be rejected".
Bildu EH initiative has three points. Besides condemning the three deaths and show solidarity with the families of the three militants and Kurdish people, it asks Turkey to commit to a negotiated solution to end the "suffering the people of Kurdistan and Turkey have endured for so many year". It also calls for the recognition of the Kurdish national reality and urges the Council of Europe to intervene in the conflict.
Turkey's ambassador in the Spanish state, Ayse Sinirlioglu, has sent a letter to the president of the Parliament, Bakartxo Tejería, in which she states she has "learned with dismay" of the EH Bildu proposition that, in her opinion - "contains serious allegations and misinformation about Turkey that need to be corrected before proceeding to any premature judgment". She goes on by underlining the alleged 'terrorist' feature of the PKK as opposed to the "democratic" feature of the Turkish state.
Tellingly, before showing her confidence that the president "will make every effort to prevent the approval of such a proposal," the embassy reminds the Parliament of the "significant investments" in Turkey and 'business opportunities' for the Basques offered by Turkey. According to the ambassador, the EH Bildu initiative is "an attempt to overshadow our relations."
EH Bildu on Monday denounced the "intolerable interference" of the embassy, which "has violated the autonomy that is characteristic of any parliament, included the Basque Parliament." The coalition calls on Bakartxo Tejeria to reply to the ambassador in a way commensurate with the seriousness of the facts.
For now, Turkey's letter seems to have had no great effect. Notably, the amendment by the PNV (Nationalist Basque Party) contains the substance of the text  by Bildu.
