Turkey to close schools and universities

The Turkish government announced a series of measures against the Coronavirus threat.

Turkish Presidential Spokesman İbrahim Kalın held a press conference on Thursday concerning the decisions made at the Coronavirus summit that was held with the participation of Cabinet members in Beştepe, Ankara.

Kalın announced that all schools will be closed for a week and universities for three weeks starting from March 16. Distance education programs will be implemented from March 23 on.

He added that sport events will take place without audience till the end of April.

According to Kalın, a general instruction has been issued for state employees who will be subject to permission to travel abroad.

Kalın suggested the people of Turkey to postpone their foreign trips and called on those arriving from abroad to quarantine themselves for 14 days.
