People's Defense Forces Press and Communication Centre (HPG-BIM) reported in a written statement that the Turkish army shelled the Avashin and Haftanin regions in Medya Defense Zones under the control of guerrilla forces.

According to the statement, Turkish army carried out howitzer and mortar attacks from the Oremar military post on the border of Hakkari's Yüksekova district, targeting the Martyr Gafur hill in Avashin region at 15:30-16:00 yesterday afternoon. The area of Mêrgê on Şemdinli border was also shelled between 6 and 7 in the evening.

HGP-BIM said that Turkish military forces deployed in Yekmal and Sinek military posts also bombarded the hills of Hestîya, Dola Silê, Dola Kulya, Martyr Deniz, Gömme and Boxaza in Haftanin region with howitzers and mortars between 2 and 3 pm yesterday.

The hills of Martyr Munzur, Martyr Êrîş, Martyr Deniz, as well as Boxaza PKK, Dola Bektorya, Martyr Zêrîn Hill and Dêrik village in the same area were also bombarded intensely by the Turkish army between 7 and 8 am this morning.

On the other hand, reconnaissance flights by the Turkish army in guerrilla areas are also continuing, reported HPG-BIM according to which a reconnaissance activity took place over the areas of Xakurke and Avashin, as well as Hill Xwudê, Hill Ronahî and Mêrgê around 6 pm yesterday evening and earlier today.

Warplanes flew and reconnaissance flights were performed over the Metina area throughout yesterday and earlier today, HPG-BIM said, adding that unmanned aerial vehicles of the Turkish army also carried out flights on Haftanin border line and Zap region.
