Turkish gendarmes attacked the vigil tent of Alevi citizens in Maraş who protest state officials’ plans to develop a refugee camp in the town.

The vigil tent entered its 6th day as Alevi residents continue to object to the construction of a refugee camp in the Sivrice Höyül (Terolar) neighborhood in Maraş’s Dulkadir district. Led by the Maraş Life Platform and supported by Alevi organizations, protestors at the vigil tent were attacked by Turkish gendarmes who removed the tents this morning.
