Turkish warplanes bomb South Kurdistan

Turkish warplanes have bombed a number of regions in the guerrilla-controlled Media Defense Areas on Friday.

According to the reports received, the regions of Kandil, Zap, Çemço, Garê and Metina have been bombed by warplanes at around 4 pm.

The guerrilla-controlled areas in South Kurdistan have been subject to intense bombardment by the Turkish military since 2007. Bombardments mainly affect the villagers in the region where a number of civilians have been killed in aerial attacks by the Turkish military so far.

The areas controlled by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in South Kurdistan extend to a region of hundreds of kilometers and consist of eight regions;Qandil, Metina, Zap, Xakûrkê, Xinêrê, Haftanin, Garê and Zagros.
