Istanbul police have detained 12 people as a result of an operation against the left group DHKP/C (Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front).

A number of addresses were targeted in the dawn raid in the district of Maltepe.

Detainees were taken to Istanbul police headquarters after going through medical examinations.
