Twelve people including 9 lawyers detained in Urfa and Amed

Twelve people, including 9 lawyers, were detained in the Urfa-based political genocide operation.

Turkish police officers raided the houses and offices of many politicians and lawyers in Urfa and Amed this morning.

Police raided the homes and offices of 4 lawyers in Amed and detained 2 lawyers.

Following the raids in Urfa, HDP council member lawyer Metin Özbadem, HDP former provincial co-mayor, lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingol, HDP former executive Sedat Çelik, HDP Siverek Municipal Council member Ibrahim Ayyıldız, Radio Karacadağ employee Salih Erbekler and lawyers Cemo Tuysuz, Emin Baran, Huseyin Izol, Şeyhmus Inal and Hidayet Enmek were taken into custody.

It was stated that lawyers and politicians were detained on charges of "aiding an illegal organization".

The number of detentions may increase.
