Twelve young people have been taken into custody in the district of Nusaybin (Mardin) on Thursday.
The simultaneous house raids in a number of houses were reportedly carried out in the scope of so-called Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) investigation by means of which thousands of Kurdish politicians have been put in prison since 2009. Detainees, all aged between 18 and 25, were taken to Mardin Police Headquarters.
Families of detained youngsters said that a large number of police teams had messed all houses up to find the clothes seen dressed by a group of young people on the photographs policemen were carrying in their hands during the raids.
Þükran Mutlu, mother of Ömer Mutlu who is among the detained, reacted against the raids saying that; "The government makes our children turn their face to mountains. It is doing nothing but oppressing us, so much so that they will make us even take to the mountains."
