Twenty-eight detained in Ankara
Twenty-eight people were taken into custody late Friday for joining the Gezi Park protests in capital Ankara.
The protestors were taken into custody as a result of police intervention in the group that built barricades on the main Kennedy and Tunalı Hilmi Streets during yesterday's protest in solidarity with Gezi Park resistance. The detained protestors are expected to be referred to court today.
On the other hand, four members of Socialist Democracy Party (SDP) Istanbul organization were arrested by a court on Saturday.
On 11 June, 70 members of the SDP were taken into custody as a result of police raid in the office of the party in Taksim late morning. Police tear-gassed the people inside the office after the party announced that they had nothing to do with those who threw molotov cocktails to the police, carrying shields with the name of the party (SDP) written on them. 31 among them were referred to a court late Friday after bearing testimony to a public prosecutor. Four SDP members, Ulaş Bayraktaroğlu, Doğukan Oci, Ceyhun Dönmez and Furkan Tombul, have been arrested on Saturday.
